The short verdict
SamCart is one of the best checkout tools I've used for selling digital products, courses and subscriptions, and this year it added coupons on every plan, conditional upsells and inventory tracking. The catch is that the features that raise order value, like order bumps, upsells and the affiliate center, are on Pro at $199 a month, there is no refund guarantee, and it is not a full all-in-one.
Start free trial Is it worth it?Quite a few SamCart reviews that still rank are describing a product that no longer exists. Some list Launch, Grow and Scale plans, and others say the price depends on your revenue. Neither is how SamCart is sold today. I signed up for the Pro trial, built a small demo shop with products, an order bump, an upsell funnel, a course and a coupon, and then checked everything against SamCart's pricing page, help centre and terms.
Short version
- Core is $79 a month and Pro is $199 a month. Paying yearly takes 25% off, and every plan has a 7 day free trial that needs a card.
- SamCart takes no percentage of your sales. SamPay charges 2.9% + 30c per transaction.
- Order bumps, one-click upsells, the affiliate center, A/B tests and Subscription Saver are Pro only.
- There is no money-back guarantee, and monthly fees are not refundable.
- It suits people who already have an audience and an email tool and want a better checkout.
What SamCart actually is
SamCart is a checkout platform for people who sell their own products online. You create a product, SamCart gives it a checkout page, and you send buyers there from your website, your emails or your social profiles. Around that checkout sit the things that make each sale worth more: order bumps, one-click upsells, subscriptions, coupons and an affiliate program.
Over the last couple of years it has grown past the checkout. There is now an AI assistant that drafts sales pages, a page builder for landing pages and link-in-bio pages, a Courses app with a members area, and a customer portal. It still doesn't try to replace your email platform or CRM. Products live under Sell, and that's where I started.

Every product I created landed in Test Mode by default, which is a sensible choice. Nothing can be charged by accident while you are setting things up.
How I tested it
I signed up for SamCart's Pro trial and built a small demo shop: three products at $27, $9 and $47, an order bump on the main checkout, a one-click upsell inside a funnel, a course with two units, three lessons and a quiz, a DEMO10 coupon, a 30% affiliate commission and a sales page from the AI page builder. I didn't connect a payment processor, so I previewed the checkout rather than making a test purchase. The screenshots in this review come from that account.
I then checked every price and plan limit against SamCart's pricing page, the plan guide in its help centre, its terms and conditions and its product release notes. How I test is explained in full on our testing process page.
Who SamCart is for, and who should skip it
A good fit if
- You sell digital products, courses, coaching or subscriptions
- You already have an audience, a website or an email list
- You want order bumps and upsells without building a full funnel
- You plan to run your own affiliate program
- You want a checkout that is quick to set up and hard to break
Look elsewhere if
- You want email marketing, a CRM and pages in one plan
- You are starting with no audience and a tight budget
- You need upsells but can't justify $199 a month yet
- You run an agency with many client accounts
- You want a refund if the tool doesn't work out
Beginners can use SamCart without much trouble. The question is whether a beginner needs it. If you have no audience yet, you will be paying for a very good checkout that nobody visits, and a cheaper all-in-one gives you more to work with while you grow.
SamCart pricing and plans
SamCart has two self-serve plans and a custom "Done for you" plan that you book through a call. Paying yearly takes 25% off.
| Plan | Price | Team seats | Upsells and bumps |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core | $79/mo or $710/yr | 1 | No |
| Pro | $199/mo or $1,790/yr | 10 | Yes |
| Done for you | Custom | Custom | Yes |
- Every plan has a 7 day free trial, and you add a card to start it.
- SamCart takes no percentage of your sales on either plan.
- Pro adds the growth tools: upsells, order bumps, A/B tests, Subscription Saver, the affiliate center, advanced reports, API access and third-party processors.
My account is on the Pro trial. The billing page shows it plainly as SamCart Pro Monthly with 7 days free, and the card on file is charged once the trial ends unless you cancel first.

The yearly figures come from SamCart's plan guide. Coupon codes, processor fees in detail and the full plan comparison are in our full SamCart pricing guide.
The rules that change the price
The plan price is only part of what you'll pay. Four things decide whether SamCart costs $79 a month or a lot more.
The Pro-only features you'll probably want
Core gives you unlimited products, pages and checkouts, the Courses app, coupons, cart abandonment emails, the customer portal and custom domains. That is enough to sell. What it doesn't give you is the stuff SamCart is famous for. Order bumps, one-click upsells, A/B testing, Subscription Saver, the affiliate center, advanced reports and API access all need Pro.
SamCart's plan guide also lists the Core checkout as SamCart-branded, and Core includes one team seat. In practice, most sellers who pick SamCart because of its upsells end up on Pro, so I'd budget for $199 a month, or about $149 a month on yearly billing.
Processing and tax fees
SamPay, SamCart's own payment option, charges 2.9% + 30c per transaction, with no extra SamCart fee on top. If you let SamCart collect sales tax for you, there is a tax collection fee of 50 basis points on Core and 35 on Pro. Dedicated live support, with real people in the app from 9 to 5 Central time on weekdays, is a $19 a month add-on on top of the standard email and chat support.
| Cost | Core | Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Plan, monthly | $79 | $199 |
| SamCart share of sales | 0% | 0% |
| SamPay processing | 2.9% + 30c | 2.9% + 30c |
| Tax collection fee | 50 bps | 35 bps |
| Dedicated live support | +$19 a month | +$19 a month |
Refunds, cancellation and CreatorU
This is the part I'd read twice. SamCart's terms say there is no money-back guarantee and monthly fees are not refundable. If you pay yearly upfront, a refund request within 30 days is considered but not guaranteed. You need to cancel at least 5 days before your billing date, there are no prorated refunds, and your data may be deleted after you cancel.
CreatorU, SamCart's training library and community, has its own rule: purchases are not refundable, though a credit is possible within 30 days on annual or one-time purchases. That matters because CreatorU billing is behind a lot of the angry reviews, which I cover in the reputation section below.
The trial bills automatically on day 8, and the terms ask you to cancel at least 5 days before a billing date. On a 7 day trial that is tight, so cancel from Settings > Billing as soon as you know SamCart isn't for you, rather than on the last day.
Legacy plans
If you see Launch, Grow or Scale plans in older reviews, those are SamCart's previous plans. The help centre says customers on them are not moved to Core or Pro automatically, and you change plans yourself from Settings > Billing. Anyone quoting those prices is describing a plan you can't buy today.
Free 7 day trial + 25% off annual
Try either plan before you pay. Build one product and one checkout in the 7 day trial, and check whether you need the Pro tools before the first bill.

SamCart features, tested
Checkout pages and the AI page builder
The checkout is SamCart's strongest feature. You pick a template, the product sets the price, and the page shows the order summary, contact fields and card fields on one page. While a product is in Test Mode, a yellow banner across the top says live charges won't be made and gives you Stripe's test card number to use.
I couldn't take that test card through to a finished order, because the checkout won't process anything until a processor is connected. So I previewed the checkout rather than buying through it. The other thing I noticed: no payment-plan setting appeared on my product until a processor is connected, so if you want to sell in instalments, connect Stripe or SamPay first.
The AI page builder surprised me. I gave it a one-line prompt for a $27 beginner course, and it came back with a complete sales page: a headline, a short intro, buttons, images and a "What you'll learn" section. Pages are built in an editor from Typeset, SamCart's design tool, so you can change any block afterwards. The copy was generic, and I'd rewrite most of it, but as a first draft it was a real head start.

Order bumps, upsells and funnels
An order bump is a small extra that buyers can add on the checkout page. I set up a $9 swipe file as a bump on the $27 course. In the checkout template I used, it didn't appear as a checkbox. It showed as a "Popular add-ons" item with a + button, which looks cleaner but is easier to skip. Check how your chosen template shows bumps before you rely on them.

One-click upsells appear after the buyer pays and add a product without asking for card details again. You build them under Offers > Funnels. My funnel has one step, a $47 templates upgrade shown after the $27 course. Setting it up took a few minutes, and the funnel screen shows the upsell step, the product it sells and its settings in one card.

SamCart keeps adding to this area. Its release notes list Conditional Upsell Funnels from 30 September 2026, which change the next offer based on what the buyer did, order bumps inside A/B tests from August, and sold-out upsells that hide themselves. I only built a single-step funnel, so I can't speak to how the conditional version works in practice yet.
Subscriptions, Subscription Saver and the customer portal
You can sell any product as a subscription, and the customer portal lets buyers update their card, manage subscriptions and find past purchases without emailing you. Subscription Saver, which is Pro only, deals with failed payments. In my account it came with a default dunning email plus four follow-up steps, already written, that go out after a payment fails. Each one has an Edit button and a Send Test Email button.

If subscriptions are a big part of your income, this is one of the better reasons to pay for Pro. Failed cards quietly cost subscription businesses money every month, and here the recovery emails are ready to use out of the box.
SamPay and payment processors
SamPay is SamCart's built-in payments, based on Stripe. It charges 2.9% + 30c, supports Apple Pay, Google Pay and buy now, pay later options such as Klarna, Affirm and Afterpay, and offers instant payouts for an extra fee. PayPal, including Venmo for newer accounts, also works on both plans. Pro adds third-party processors such as Braintree, Authorize.net and Easy Pay Direct. The pricing guide compares them.
Courses app
The Courses app is included on Core and Pro, and it's better than I expected from a checkout tool. A course is split into units and lessons. I built two units with three lessons between them, and each lesson can be dripped, so you can hold content back until a set time after someone enrols.

Quizzes sit inside a lesson. You write multiple-choice questions, mark the right answer, and choose whether the quiz is optional, required, or needs a minimum pass mark. I set mine to two questions with a 50% pass mark.

The help centre also covers importing students by CSV, granting or removing access by hand, and a public course directory. It is a solid members area for selling a course alongside your checkout. It isn't a full course platform. There are no community spaces or live cohorts, so creators whose whole business is the course may still prefer a course-first tool.
Affiliate Center
The Affiliate Center lets you run your own affiliate program. You set the commission per product, as a percentage or a flat amount, and choose one-time or recurring for subscriptions. I set 30% on the demo course. New products start at 0%, so you have to switch each one on.

One thing to plan for: SamCart tracks sales and commissions, but it does not pay your affiliates for you. You export a CSV and pay them yourself through PayPal or your bank. Since July, affiliate links also track on custom domains, which used to be a weak spot.
Coupons and other 2026 additions
Coupons moved to every plan in July 2026. I created a DEMO10 code for 10% off the course. The usage options are unlimited, one use per email address, or one-time use. There's no field for a number cap, so you can't say "first 100 buyers". If you need that, you'll have to switch the coupon off by hand.

Other 2026 additions from the release notes include inventory tracking for physical products in August, a custom domain you can buy inside SamCart, and coupon savings shown in renewal reminders. The notes also mention Calendar Bookings, but SamCart's help centre still calls it a beta and I couldn't find it anywhere in my Pro account, so I don't count it as a feature yet.
Analytics, A/B testing and attribution
Every plan gets revenue, order and traffic reports, plus tracking pixels for Facebook, Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager. Pro adds A/B tests on pages, prices and offers, and reports for tax, lifetime value and offers. SamCart released Attribution Tracking on 8 October 2026, which is meant to show which sources lead to sales. My demo shop had no traffic, so I can only confirm these exist, not how useful the numbers are.
Integrations and API
SamCart's Integration Engine connects to email platforms, membership tools and CRMs. Inside the account, the app marketplace lists apps you install with one click. Mine had Courses, Customer Portal, Post Affiliate Pro and Zapier, and Zapier covers almost any tool that isn't on the native list. Pro adds API access and webhooks, and SamCart released public API keys in August 2026.

What SamCart doesn't do
The gaps are just as important as the features. I didn't find a newsletter or broadcast email tool in the account. The emails SamCart sends are for cart abandonment, failed payments and receipts, so you will still need an email platform. There's no CRM pipeline for sales calls, no SMS, and no blog or full website builder. Video hosting is limited on Core. If you were hoping one subscription would cover everything, SamCart won't.
Ease of use
SamCart is easy to find your way around. The top menu splits into Design, Sites, Sell and Apps, and the side menu under Sell keeps products, offers, customers, orders, subscriptions and analytics in one list. Creating a product is a short form, and an order bump is another one.
The slower parts are around the edges. Some settings, like payment plans, only show up once a processor is connected, so the first hour can feel like hunting. Bumps, upsells and funnels sit in different places under Offers, and it took me a moment to see how they fit together. None of this is hard, but give yourself an afternoon for the first full setup.
Support and reputation (is SamCart legit?)
Support on both plans is by email and chat, and there's a help centre with articles for most features. Live support with a person, 9 to 5 Central time on weekdays, is the $19 a month add-on. The CreatorU library and community come with the plans and are useful for getting started.
On Trustpilot, SamCart scores 3.7 out of 5 from 353 reviews as of October 2026. That number hides a split: 58% of reviews give five stars and 28% give one star. The positive reviews often name individual support staff who helped them. The negative ones keep coming back to the same issues: a low-cost CreatorU trial that renewed at a much higher price, trouble cancelling, and charges people didn't expect.
So is SamCart legit? Yes. It is an established company that says it serves more than 75,000 businesses, and payments run through Stripe-based SamPay or processors like PayPal. The complaints are about billing, not about the checkout failing. Read the renewal terms on any signup screen, set a cancellation reminder, and you avoid most of what goes wrong for people.

Weaknesses
- Bumps, upsells and affiliates need Pro at $199 a month
- No money-back guarantee, and monthly fees are not refundable

SamCart alternatives
If the cons above are deal breakers, these are the four I'd look at first. I've ranked ten of them, with prices and fees side by side, in my SamCart alternatives guide.
ClickFunnels is the natural choice if you want the funnel, the pages and the follow-up emails in one plan rather than just the checkout. Our SamCart vs ClickFunnels comparison goes through both side by side, and you can try ClickFunnels free for 14 days through our partner link.
ThriveCart is the other well-known checkout tool, and the main thing people compare is its pricing model against SamCart's monthly plans. I compare the two plan by plan in SamCart vs ThriveCart. Stan Store suits creators who sell from a link in their social bio and want something simpler, and I compare the two in SamCart vs Stan Store.
Systeme.io is the low-cost route, with funnels, email, courses and a free plan in one account. It is less polished at checkout but covers far more for the money. See our Systeme.io review. Course creators who want a dedicated course platform can start from our Kajabi page.
Is SamCart worth it?
If checkout is where your money is made, yes. Someone with an audience, an email list and a few digital products or a subscription will get real value from Pro. One order bump and one upsell that buyers take often enough can pay for the plan, and Subscription Saver works quietly in the background on failed payments.
Core is harder to recommend. At $79 a month you get a very good checkout, coupons and the Courses app, but not the tools that make SamCart different from cheaper options. If you only need to take payments for a course, other platforms do that for less.
Why is SamCart so expensive? Because it is priced as a revenue tool, not a page builder. The bet is that bumps, upsells and recovered subscriptions bring in more than $199 a month. If your sales are too small for that to be true yet, start with an all-in-one and come back to SamCart when checkout becomes the bottleneck.

Common questions
Is SamCart legit and safe to use?
Yes. SamCart is an established checkout platform that says more than 75,000 businesses use it. Payments run through SamPay, which is built on Stripe, or through processors such as PayPal, so card details are handled by the processor. The complaints you will find on Trustpilot are mostly about billing and cancelling, not about payments going missing, so read the refund terms before you pay.
Is SamCart worth it in 2026?
It is worth it if checkout is the centre of how you sell and you will use the Pro tools, such as order bumps, one-click upsells and the affiliate center. Core at $79 a month is harder to justify, because the tools that raise order value are not on it. If you need email marketing, a CRM and a full website as well, an all-in-one will usually cost less.
Does SamCart take a percentage of sales?
No. SamCart does not take a cut of your revenue on Core or Pro. You pay the monthly plan, plus card processing, which is 2.9% + 30c on SamPay. If you use SamCart to collect sales tax, there is a separate tax collection fee of 50 basis points on Core and 35 on Pro.
Does SamCart have a free trial?
Yes. Every plan has a 7 day free trial, and you need a card to start it. I started the Pro trial, and my billing page showed it as SamCart Pro Monthly with 7 days free, after which the plan bills at $199 a month unless you cancel. Core bills at $79 a month after its trial.
Is SamCart good for beginners?
Mostly, yes. The menus are short, products take a minute to create, and the AI page builder gives you a usable first draft of a sales page. The harder part is the setup around it: you need a payment processor connected before anything can sell, and you need separate tools for email marketing.
Can SamCart host online courses?
Yes. The Courses app is included on Core and Pro. I built a course with two units, three lessons and a quiz with a pass mark, and lessons can be dripped on a schedule. It covers the basics well. Creators who want a polished course platform with community features may still prefer a course-first tool.
Does SamCart do email marketing?
Not in the way an email tool does. In my account I found automated emails for cart abandonment and failed subscription payments, but no newsletter or broadcast tool. Most sellers connect an email platform through SamCart's integrations or Zapier.
Does SamCart offer refunds?
Not by default. SamCart's terms say monthly fees are not refundable and there is no money-back guarantee. If you paid annually upfront, a refund request within 30 days is considered but not guaranteed. You need to cancel at least 5 days before your billing date, and there are no prorated refunds.
Why do some reviews complain about CreatorU charges?
CreatorU is SamCart's training and community product. Several Trustpilot reviews describe signing up for a low-cost CreatorU trial and then being renewed at a much higher price. SamCart's terms say CreatorU purchases are not refundable. If you try any SamCart trial, note the renewal date and price on the signup screen.
Is SamCart better than ClickFunnels?
It depends on what you sell. SamCart is the stronger checkout, with simple product setup, subscriptions and a built-in courses app. ClickFunnels is the stronger funnel builder, with email and more page control in one plan. Our SamCart vs ClickFunnels comparison goes through both in detail.
The verdict
SamCart earns 7.7 out of 10 from me. For a creator with an audience who sells digital products, courses or subscriptions and will use upsells and the affiliate center, it sits closer to nine, because few checkouts are this quick to set up and this focused on order value. For a beginner with no audience, or anyone who wants email and pages in the same plan, it sits closer to six.
Use the 7 day trial properly. Build one product, one bump and one upsell, preview the checkout on your phone, and decide before day 8. Cancel early if it isn't right, because the fees aren't refundable.
Prices, plan features and terms are set by SamCart and change from time to time. The figures here are checked against SamCart's pricing page, help centre, terms and release notes in October 2026. Check the current terms on their site before you sign up.
